The Windows 8 Start screen is kept for those who do not install the Windows Store but rather install Windows 8 as a full-screen operating system. In this case, the Windows 8 Start screen is used as the main start screen.

2. Download and Install Win 8 Start Menu Changer

Win 8 Start Menu Changer is available in the Windows Store. Once downloaded, the installation process is straightforward. All that is required is to run the application and follow the onscreen wizard prompts to install the application.
The wizard will download and install the necessary Windows 8 Start Menu Changer components, including drivers, if necessary. It is very easy to use and all the necessary information is displayed directly on the interface screen.

3. Apply the Changes

The first time I downloaded this tool it didn’t work for me at all, and I ended up having to re-update windows because it was not working. So, I apologize if you have to do the same thing.

However, I am now able to see the normal start menu and the time on the clock. In addition to this, I cannot view the windows phone and windows live apps anymore, but am not sure if it is the fault of the tool or not.

I am glad that you could fix the problem with the start page. That was the most frequently reported bug.

The clock icon (calendar) is a native Windows 8 Start screen component. It is not a desktop app and is separate from apps like your browser.

Windows Phone and Windows Live apps are not Native in Windows 8, and this is why they are not rendered by the Start screen.

We have fixed the issue with desktop apps in the next update, but even if this happened to you it is not a bug, but a deliberate Windows 8 design decision.
