A big new entry in the long-running science-fiction franchise Darksiders is dropping next month, as Vigil Games and THQ Nordic announce that Darksiders III is on track to be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on August 26. The release will be the first Darksiders title since 2010’s Darksiders 2, in what is sure to be a hotly anticipated release for the franchise.

“Featuring open environments, destructible environments and a free-roaming combat system that allows our player to run, jump, climb and fight in a unique first-person action-style, the Darksiders III game delivers a powerful experience with world-class graphics and environments,” says Tymon Smektala, Creative Director at Vigil Games. “In addition, players will be able to customize the look, sound, and style of their horse, including its color and its special abilities that can be used on the battlefield.”

Darksiders III is still in early development, with a studio currently working on the title. The game is being produced by a different team at Vigil Games, who have made several successful sequels to the original Darksiders franchise, with the latest entry to the series, Darksiders II, selling nearly 300,000 copies.
