if youre lucky enough to have a pinball league, then you have the table you need for the game of competition pinball. we had a really great time playing with this table, not only as a league table but also because its just a blast to play in a league. the whacky layouts, the high-kicking rail mechanism and the noise of the 12 launching balls coming at you all at once. its a really fun table to play with, and its hard to beat. its a challenge to play, but thats what makes it so much fun. i guess that makes this table part of the base of the pinball league. its so fun to play and so fun to watch. if you have access to a table, this is a great choice.

steve ritchie has always been a bit of a maverick. the first drafts of ms. pac-man, bionic commando, shadow of the ninja and magic: the gathering ii were all by steve. when steve did these 3 major game systems, he always had some really creative ideas, like turning levels into a dungeon and putting the maze in the center of a planet. when i saw this table, i was blown away by how easy it was to teach kids how to play and how mechanically tight the table is. it doesnt even take 5 minutes to learn how to play, and youll be absolutely dominating the competition. i was really impressed by the constant ejecting and bouncing of the balls. its a really fun table to play, and a great candidate for a league table. it made me miss shooting hoops with my dad.

what would a pin from this era of pinball be without a crossword puzzle mode? the classic table quiz is a time-honored pinball tradition that plays out like the real time board game for pinball (also, check out the pinball circus and mach 3 for similar concepts). like the lock sequences of terminator, the puzzles in fire mountain allow you to complete them in whatever fashion youd like. you can play them in whatever order youd like. you can use trial and error to get to the final answer. you can also beat on the table, like a pinball machine. the puzzles are solid, the game play is solid. its the same great table experience in a different, less visceral way. this is a fantastic game, but its only worth playing if its the only table you own. i dont feel like i would personally play it much. its not a table for me. its more of a math puzzle. i dont get the same thrill as i did in the nineties when i finally got that last ball and i hit the lock, but i can appreciate its function. it is a great table in its own right. its just not my terminator 2.
the first thing that strikes me about this pin is how radical it is. it really feels like a completely different pin from everything else that came before it. its not just a ramping game, it has ramps that cant be completely covered by the playfield. its not just a game with ramps and traps, its a game with two distinct modes of play, with different goals. even the objectives are different. in simple terms, youre a ball. your only purpose is to travel from left to right in the lower portion of the playfield. once you hit the left wall, you must hit the top wall to the right and re-enter the playfield. its a very clean system, very elegant. the ramps feel very real, and there are some very cool moving shots that are very satisfying. the table is the most plastic-feeling of all the zaccaria games. its not quite as smooth, but it doesnt feel like it needs a coaster under it either. its more of a let-it-go pin that you just keep letting go. the playfield has some very nice touches. the tables slopes and valleys are very well defined, and add a lot to the overall feel of the table. the bells and whistles arent even that many. this table has the smallest number of possible animation settings, and the one it does have is very well done. the ball slows down whenever it hits an obstacle, and there are some very cool graphical effects, like when the ball slows and you can see the flippers retract and the backdrop shift in time. its just a nice table. i like it a lot, and if its your first non-williams pinball game, its worth a download. it plays just about perfectly, and theres no large amount of content in the table. its more of a game with two distinct modes of play with different goals. theres no rollback option like in minpin, but theres a reasonable lockshot mode. it has the most accurate solid-state pinball feel ive experienced with a pin. i got a chance to play this pin, and i never played one. ive never been a fan of this pin, and its just.. unfortunate that so many people want to play it, on account of how its a problem when i try to play the real-life version of this table. but, it doesnt count for arcoodas version.
