nasty, nasty, or maybe not. hot suns are difficult, and require a chunk of cold iron to be placed in the body of the stone in a wayfinder. the dangers of these stones include extreme heat, low-level radiation, or sometimes even contamination with strange elements or even foreign metals. whenever the magic user attempts to set the stone with such a wayfinder, the piece of iron or other material goes into the stone and causes internal damage as appropriate. as this is a one-time, random event, the damage done to the stone by this process is also random, but the degree of damage can vary from stone to stone even within a single piece of iron, making it impossible to determine the exact effect of a given redstone to any given mage unless they are specifically performing this ability on that stone. variation in this damage is represented by several different ways that the stone will react to this metal, ranging from a hole forming on the outside of the stone to an internal explosion that completely destroys the stone. the exact effect of such a stone also depends on the amount of metal inserted into the stone, as well as the process of inserting the metal. for example, a single iron coin will insert into a stone, cause damage, and then be ejected by the internal explosion, while a greater block of iron of about the size of a head will cause more damage before ejection. as one of the most powerful wayfinders around, a hot sun holds a lot of meaning for a mage. its enough to drive a mage crazy or even drive them out of the ring, but because they work by extremely random effects, the possibilities for damage to the stone or otherwise attacking the mage are endless.
