Getting started with the application
The first thing you'll notice when you install it is the fact that there are many menus and sub-menus, which can be confusing at first, but after exploring all the options for a while you realize that they are quite intuitive. This user-friendliness is what makes this software program ideal for beginners.
One thing worth mentioning is the outdated GUI (Graphical User Interface) which may atract those of you who started out using older operating system versions such as Windows 95 or 98. Although this may be perceived as a disadvantage by some younger users, those passionate enough about stargazing will overlook this minor inconvenience.

Now that you understand the basics of the software (mentioned above) the next step would be to begin calculating what stars are being seen by you wherever you may be. In order to do that, you’ll need to type in your exact location, which is based off of your latitude and longitude. If you don’t know where that is you can find it on an online map, which you can find by clicking here.
Now that you have the coordinates you can move on to calculating the current date and time. For that you’ll have to enter your timezone. You can find out which one you’re in by checking the timezone selector.

When you have the current time and time zone you can type in the longitude and latitude of where you are, which you can either find with a online map or inside your GPS (if you have one). Once you’ve entered the required info the next step is to choose the number of stars that you want to see.

You can choose between five different star counts. This is to make it more convenient for you.
The current star count that you’re seeing are “real stars” according to the program. So if you choose the stars for the entire sky, you’ll be seeing the same stars.

After you finish entering the data you want the software program to calculate the current date and time, the longitude, latitude and the star count.

At the end of this process you will get a printout with all the information you need to know about the stars your currently looking at. StarCalc has so many customizable options for you to choose from.

If you click on the 3-D button you can navigate to the 3-D section of StarCalc where you can view the stars in 3-D.

Afterwards you’ll be able to navigate to the Constellation Map where you can view the constellations you see when you look up at the sky.

StarCalc is a powerful astronomical program that allows you to quickly and easily perform calculations on star positions using the ephemeris database. You can even input your own ephemeris and save it for later use with a copy of this software.

The Planetarium Elite package is available in two parts.
Easily seen by its name, the program contains a very high-end planetarium that can display astronomical information such as the location of planets or stars, and a tool that brings star-mapping to you.
However, the program is also quite intuitive and takes only little learning time to get used to.
Eulerian video projection is the most noticeable feature with this planetarium, but does not take away from the layout. All different types of information can be shown along with more standard viewing options.
The program can be taken down to its basics. A whole lot of information can be displayed, and animations can be activated, which will be explained more thoroughly in the following section.
Eulerian video projection is not the only selling point here. A tool allows you to automatically display the location of up to four celestial objects, which is a more practical option than flipping through a book to find the right star.
Another striking feature of the program is the layout itself, which doesn’t take away from the planetarium at all. Using a very simple navigation bar along with a multitude of options and buttons, users have a good control over what is displayed in the program.
Although a few options and buttons have been intentionally omitted from this review, it does not mean that the program is lacking. The search and display settings are easy to navigate, and can be adjusted in a very intuitive manner.
The effects are quite good and may be activated to make things more impressive. There are three different effects present in the program, and two of them are very impressive indeed.
However, it should be noted that the default settings are used by default, and may be uninspiring to those who use the program for the first time.
A lot of information can be displayed in the program, but it can also be taken down to its basic elements. However, if a user is not fond of this program’s default settings, a lot of ways to customize the interface are available.

StarCalc allows you to work in a pretty vast amount of different scenarios in which the Solar System was formed.
Falling stars and meteors may either be directly attributed to the rotation of the Earth, or to the Sun. In StarCalc’s own Solar-System Hypothesis, the latter is the cause.
From this perspective, watching the sky over the course of thousands of years may be of great use.

The StarCalc License (read it carefully!) indicates that the author has chosen the GNU Free Culture license, which means that this program and other GNU programs can be freely re-distributed and modified.

The design of this software was and is still very helpful as far as calculation is concerned, and very user friendly as well. The downside is that, while it is “perfect” for the beginners, it can be time consuming for the advanced users who are looking for the more precise detail. (Such as the exact time when Gemini will rise, the distance between stars, etc.) I am only a beginner, so I found this a challenge.

Once you get it installed and you launch the program, just choose the “Find by position” option.
