With the game having release just prior to Xbox Live’s One-2-One multiplayer mode coming out, as well as the game being bundled with a copy of the game, I recently had an opportunity to play through a few hours of the game to see what it was like in the midst of one of the greatest batch of AAA titles coming out in 2012.
The premise of the game is that players will be on a journey to the lands of the Elden Ring to find Tarnished, the series’ protagonist. The character’s story is said to consist of flashbacks that last throughout the game, as the player will be making a trek throughout the world, and will have to make choices throughout the course of the game that will impact the way the story is told, as well as the outcome of the game. Players can create their own character of what we can assume to be a high level from the beginning. Once created, the character can be used in both cooperative and competitive online play, as well as local split-screen play with other players.
Once the character is created, players are given a class, as well as an in-depth character background. This background allows the player to tweak their character further, as well as being different among the various classes. The classes that I had a chance to play with was a Warrior, Thief, Ranger, and a Magic User. A few of the other classes such as the Paladin and the Necromancer can also be found in the game. Each class has both melee and ranged attacks, along with a few magical attacks that they can use. The classes can use various weapons, as well as having access to a variety of different armor sets, along with equipment.
