Every Photoshop image that is published and every image you create in your own studio or business is saved to a file called a Photoshop.psd file.

You can use the application either directly or indirectly by using a picture-editing program to open the Photoshop file.

The steps in this chapter will walk you through opening a.psd file and creating a new file. You’ll explore what a pixel is, and explore the various options for working with the Canvas and creating a new file.

## Opening an Existing Image

Any image that you use as a starting point can be called an _original_ file or _master_ file because it contains the original image from which you want to create a new version.

You can only use an Elements version of Photoshop if you want to edit a minimum of images. It is not intended for creating and editing a large number of images, such as a professional photographer.

On the other hand, it allows you to perform a significant number of tasks in short time frames.

This invention is concerned with an automatic dispensing carton. More particularly, the invention relates to an automatic dispensing carton wherein the cover lid of the carton is designed as a four-up, two-over, and possibly multi-up, fold-over.
Cartons of this type are usually provided with removable covers which are torn or ruptured so that the product is accessable for viewing or for measuring the quantity of product contained in the carton. Most generally, the removable cover is torn from the carton along three different lines, such that the cover remains connected to the remainder of the carton by a common hinge. The hinges, in turn, are generally formed by a common score line which permits the cover to be pried upwardly and removed from the carton. In some instances, the cover is welded to the carton, while in other instances, the cover is merely adhered to the remainder of the carton.
The common, three-line, tear, and hinge of the carton are usually reinforced by the provision of inwardly bent hinge tabs which are formed at the juncture of the score line forming the hinge and the three-line tear line. As a rule, the tab will be bonded or otherwise adhered to the exterior of the hinge. The tab, together with the adhesive or bonding material therebetween, forms an inwardly directed step on the carton which provides a platform for the insertion of the user’s fingers when the carton is to be opened.
This inwardly formed step also provides a guide for the insertion of the user’s fingers when the carton is to be closed. In the case of cartons for soft drinks, such as soda and diet soda, and in the case of cartons for other liquids, such as soft drinks, the user’s hands can easily adhere to the inwardly formed step, especially during the period of time immediately before the closing of the carton. Consequently, the exterior or the user’s hands can come in contact with the contents of the carton, thereby resulting in undesirable spillage.
In the case of cartons for food products, for example, meat, eggs, milk, and the like, the exterior or user’s hands should not come in contact with the inside of the carton.
