Q:

Do multi-threaded processes use shared memory for child processes?

I need to create a multithreaded process to help me load an image. It needs to be able to load other images while it is working on a specific image.
I have 3 threads (threads) that each load their own image file. Once the image is loaded the thread is done with it and exits (thread exit). I have just one thread that will load all the other image files.
My question is, is it possible to have this process memory map to a parent process shared memory which holds all the child threads (images) in order to share information?

A:

When you run a new process, it gets its own execution context (allocated on its stack), which includes all the information it needs to do its job: environment variables, open files, parent process PID, etc.
When you fork a process, it continues that “context”.
So, as long as you do not expose any shared data to the parent by calling fork’s return values or by sending signals to the parent process, your threads will be unable to mess with other context memory.
You should have a look at the pthread_t struct.

I am trying to find the maximum element in an array that can sum to a particular value. For example, if A=[1,2,3,4,6], then the position of the maximum sum that equals 12 can be at index 4. Here is the code:
