What Photoshop is

Photoshop is a raster-based image-editing software that allows users to manipulate images in many ways, including performing specialized image-retouching techniques. This software allows you to manipulate photos to create sharp, detailed images, display photo slideshows and add special effects or artistic elements. Photoshop is available as a personal program for PC or as a suite of programs that work on both Macs and PCs (called Photoshop CS5 on Windows, or CS5 on Mac OS X).

The first generation of Photoshop software was called Photoshop 1. It was developed by Adobe Systems in 1992 and launched for Macintosh computers. In 1998, Adobe launched Photoshop 2.0. It was available for both Macintosh and PC in 1999. In 2001, Photoshop 3.0 was released for both PC and Mac. This is the version that most people think of as “Photoshop,” and it introduced new features such as layers, blending modes, gradients and the Histogram. Photoshop 3.0 also introduced the ability to apply layers to non-raster images. The first version that was available as a downloadable program, Photoshop CS1.0, was released for both PC and Mac. It was followed by Photoshop CS2.0 in 2002, Photoshop CS3.0 in 2003 and Photoshop CS4.0 in 2007. Photoshop CS5, released in May 2010, is the fifth major version of Photoshop.

The latest version, Photoshop CS5 Extended, was released in December 2010, with more features than previous versions. There are also two editions of Photoshop CS5: Photoshop CS5 and Photoshop CS5 Extended. Photoshop CS5 is designed for beginners and Photoshop CS5 Extended is designed for professionals. The new features in CS5 Extended make it easier for advanced users to tweak images, including the introduction of layer masks, selection and adjustment layers. Features of Photoshop

Photoshop features an intuitive interface with layers, selections and tools. It is perfect for beginners, although even photographers and illustrators who are familiar with other programs may find Photoshop to be a bit more intuitive than what they are used to. Because it was the first layer-based software, Photoshop had only layer and text editing features and no advanced importing tools for other file types such as GIFs or video.

Photoshop also has tools to edit images. The tools are appropriate to enhance or manipulate a picture. Other than that, there are specific tools that you can use to clone an image, copy an image, create image maps, crop photos, save images and more. You also have options to customize the workspace using layers and the color mode.

In comparison to Photoshop, Adobe Photoshop Elements doesn’t have quite as many features, even if they are better. For instance, Photoshop Elements can only change the color of an image and reduce its size. Most of the other tools are not available in this version. Additionally, it does not have the basic image editing tools that Photoshop has, like Levels and Curves.

You can perform some tasks in Photoshop Elements but not in Photoshop. Photoshop uses images as a blank canvas that you can use to change the brightness, contrast, and the colors of images.

You can not copy images from one tool to another. Photoshop Elements also has an importer that is designed to import images from other applications. Photoshop is also very expensive.

The Pen tool allows you to draw lines, curves, and polygons and edit paths. You can also apply shading effects.
The Gradient tool can be used to create gradients. You can save these as.pat,.prf or.afr files, and you can make them permanent or temporary.
The Spot Healing Brush tool can heal cracks, stains, or other imperfections in photos.
