This blog post explains all of the various tools and features of Photoshop, such as editing, using actions and scripts, and an overview of Photoshop tools and settings. Also included is a step-by-step walkthrough of how to use Photoshop to paint and create vector images.

The Photoshop program contains several edit tools such as the layer builder, the adjustment tool, tools for adding text and special effects, tools for painting, and the clone tool.

Some tools are found in a tab at the top of the Photoshop window:

The tools included in the Image → Edit and the Image → Adjustment tools are shown in Figure 1.

Note: With Photoshop 2019, the Layers panel has been replaced by the masked and clipping masks panel on the left side of the screen.

The tools within the Edit menu are also shown in Figure 2.

In addition to the Edit and Adjustment tool menus, there are several additional tool bars that contain tools:

The Tool bar (usually on the left side of the screen) includes the Layer and Selection tool (see Figure 4).

The Layers panel contains several tools to create, edit, and manage layers and groups of layers (see Figure 5).

The Properties panel contains tools to create and modify options (see Figure 6).

The Frame tool creates a rectangular selection box that is used to cut layers out of their parent layer (see Figure 7).

The Rectangle tool creates a rectangular selection box with a third border and a Center option to help you create a precise selection box (see Figure 8).

The Eraser tool can be used to remove backgrounds and objects from a selection or selected area (see Figure 9).

The Brush tool lets you paint on a selected area of a photo, the Photoshop canvas, and other areas of a layer (see Figure 10).

This article assumes you know the basics of using Photoshop Elements. To get started with Elements, you’ll need a Photo File (PNG, JPG, TIF), a New File, and a New Document.

Step 1: Open and Edit Images with Elements

Step 1. Open an Image

Open a new document with dimensions of 740×530 pixels or larger. Size is important because Elements resizes the image to fit its proportions.

If you’d like to use Photoshop for all your editing, click the “Use Photoshop as the default editor” option. Otherwise, click the “Use Elements as the default editor” option.

You’ll start with a blank canvas, so your first step is to click the Open button.

Step 3: Click Edit, then select Edit Image

The “Open” dialog box should automatically appear on the bottom panel of the interface. Click “Edit Image” from the bottom panel.

Step 4: Click the Crop… button

Under Advanced Options, click the Crop… button. This opens a dialog box where you can adjust the size of your image. Click OK.

Step 6: Click the “Edit” icon to switch to photo editing tools

Click the small “Edit” icon to open the photo editing tools panel. The tool icon is a white circle with a green arrow, like the one below.

Step 7: Click the rotate icon to rotate the image

Double-click the rotate icon to rotate the image. You can now quickly rotate the image to adjust its orientation.

In Memory of Cecilia, 1973

Of all the numinous events that came to pass in the life of Cecilia Dolores Ruiz — from being born to being kidnapped — none affected her more than the publication of Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man in 1952. That fact alone is a miracle in itself, a fit of serendipity impossible to explain in the terms of causality or superstition. It was as if Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man — the novel he wrote in 1942, the movie he directed in 1947, and the play he created for Broadway in 1952 — had been what Cecilia needed to grow up and what she needed to be whole.

I have been thinking about her every day since learning that she died on August 11 at the age of 97. I’ve thought about her death and life as if she were a person I knew, except that she was the closest thing to a real-life experience that I have come to.

I met her in 1976 when she was a Cuban student at Northwestern University, and I found myself astounded by how she and I had come from the same place, Cuba, and had found ourselves there at the same moment. I never could quite figure out what made her think of me, although I had written her a letter asking her to get in touch with me. Finally she did, and she was much, much more interesting than her letter led me to expect.

Cecilia’s idea of herself was that she was more or less normal. She saw herself as smart — which she was, and bright — and she was good-looking, as well as charming, warm, funny, and reasonably attractive. She was also a person who loved to be loved, and would actively seek opportunities to befriend other people. She did this not just with other people — she would bend over backward to help classmates and former professors, too — but with animals, with plants, and with any other living creature that came across her path. It was in this sense that she understood herself to be normal. When it came to people, she went for easy relations: she was friendly, open, and accommodating. And yet she felt as if she was always trying to keep from being hurt.

She never thought of herself as an intellectual. When I met her, she was studying medicine. In her first year as a medical student, she took a course in Spanish literature and felt so inadequate that she decided to go back to literature in

Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area

Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area is a National Recreation Area in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania in the Cumberland Plateau region. The recreation area was created by an act of Congress of December 28, 1960, and comprises managed by the U.S. Forest Service. It is located in Cumberland County, south of Carlisle and the Pottsville Pike, and north of the Appalachian Trail, which traverses the recreation area.

History
Delaware Water Gap is in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, established in December 1960 by Congress, in an attempt to conserve the natural resources in the area. Since then the recreation area has been open to the public for recreation purposes, including hiking, picnicking, fishing, and other activities.

Mileposts along the perimeter range from 0 to 1040, with mileposts 0 being the National Recreation Area entrance. The Pennsylvania state capitol of Harrisburg is to the east via Pennsylvania Route 118, or by the Delaware River. There is a visitor’s center with exhibits and rangers, along with a bookstore, restaurant, and small gift shop.

Equestrian-access trails are included in the recreation area. Access to the trails is not limited to horses, but if they are being ridden, they must be under their rider’s control at all times. Horses are not allowed to pass through the recreation area, but are welcome to stop at the visitor’s center for a feed.

There are several types of horses including three- and four-year-old horses. Five-year-old horses are the only horses allowed in the wilderness area. This area is a staging area for horses on their way to the Horse Country Riding Stables in nearby Laureldale.

There is a separate section of the recreation area that is for horses, which is more exposed to the elements. This section contains the Blue Knob Lean-to, the Pond Lean-to, and the Blue Knob Trail.

About of roads are part of the recreation area.

Protected lands
The recreation area is under the jurisdiction of the United States Forest Service, a cabinet level department within the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The protected area is extensive and includes several hundred square miles of land.

The protected land is part of the Allegheny National Forest and the Cumberland Highlands National Forest. The recreation area is also on the border
