Life Cycle of an Image

The term life cycle of an image refers to the steps in the overall production of a digital image.

Photoshop does much of the heavy lifting as an image editor because your computer has a graphical processor that analyzes and draws pixels on your monitor, creating, in essence, the physical image you see.

The goal of the life cycle of an image is to provide a framework for your Photoshop projects. Every project is different, but the life cycle of an image should provide a foundation upon which you can build your techniques.

You may always use different techniques and tools to get to the results you want, but having a basic understanding of the life cycle and tools of an image gives you a better grip on the concepts and processes you need to apply to that image.

The life cycle of an image can also be viewed as the entire process from the time you take a photo and the time you close the file in your image editor — including RAW editing, resizing, and delivering final files.

Taking Photos

The basic workflow is to take a photo with the camera or photograph using a scanner. In a digital camera, you hold your camera up to your face (and perhaps do some other things like focus and exposure) to take a photo of a subject. You then press the button and watch the images appear on your camera LCD screen.

Photographs taken with film are developed in a darkroom, where the photographer holds the image up against the light to see whether it’s a keeper or can be easily changed.

Cropping and Resizing

After you take a photo, you may want to crop it to make a single subject in the photo stand out more clearly. You can do this manually by using your cursor, or you can use an automatic crop option on your camera, which sizes a photo to the frame of the camera. This technique produces a more professional-looking image.

After you crop a photo, you can resize it. You can make the photo bigger or smaller to fit the space on a web page or a social media feed, or for another reason. You can also increase or decrease the amount of space between the photo and text (photo captions), and you can decrease or increase the amount of depth in an image

Photoshop is available for both Windows and Mac computers. Adobe Photoshop is a good choice for most photographers and graphics editors because it is popular and has many available tutorials, web pages and communities. The free version of Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, is very popular as well.

Adobe Photoshop is sold in several editions, or upgrade packages. The standard version of Photoshop is called CS. Photoshop Elements is the name of the free version of Photoshop. Both contain the same features.

Both programs have a different user interface, commands, and options. You can buy the full version of Photoshop or the Elements edition if you want more features.

Adobe Photoshop has many tools for working with layers, cropping images, making selections, and many other features.

Elements allows you to work with single or multiple files, more than one image at a time, and make adjustments to the color, look, and feel of your images. The program’s interface is streamlined, making it easier to use than the older Photoshop version.

Adobe Photoshop Elements can be used for anything that Photoshop can. It offers many of the same tools as the full version of Photoshop. However, you won’t find as many custom-built tools in Elements.

Both programs have built-in image and photo editing tools that you can use. If you’re looking for a program that will give you more options or features, Elements will work for you. Elements is a great tool for saving money, as it is a cheaper alternative to the full version of Photoshop.

Both programs have a built-in design tool that allows you to create graphic designs and make print-ready images. Elements is more limited than Photoshop in terms of customization options.

When using Elements, it’s easier to concentrate on the art of photography rather than the nitty-gritty tasks of the program. You can concentrate on your art rather than your software. Some online tutorials may be easier to follow if you are a beginner.

The two programs will give you a similar overall experience. If you are new to Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, Elements will give you a better chance of getting into a good routine.

Both programs have online communities that will be able to help you. Photoshop has more communities than Elements, but Elements can be found on many of the same forums.

Photoshop will allow you to save your images in a wide range of formats. Adobe Photoshop Elements is limited to only JPEG and Photoshop will accept many other formats as well

Missoula Youths Win Youth Soccer Tournament

Managed by Billy Burlingame and seconded by Pat Lewis, 16 teams representing nine MHSAA schools met for the finals round of the 2008 Montana State Association of Youth Soccer (MSAYS) High School Tournament this past weekend.

Using a newly built playfield, High School Soccer returned to the performance venue at the new Wilmot Sports Complex to host the tournament. Determined to continue their winning ways, the 16 teams battled throughout the weekend. With tremendous support from the community, all the teams in attendance performed with good sportsmanship and grace.

With a first-round bye, 7th MSC ranked Jackson State University (MSC) was determined to claim victory. The Lady Cyclones opened the tournament with a 1-0 win over MSC rival Missoula Central Catholic (6th MSC). Jackson State then dropped a 2-1 loss to Central Catholic but rebounded with a 1-0 shutout of MHSAA newcomer Lolo (9th MSC). The Lady Cyclones then had their undefeated season come to an end in a 3-0 loss to Missoula Chaffee (8th MSC). Jackson State, who moved into the finals game with only a one point edge over MSC, bowed out with a 6-1 defeat against 5th ranked U.S. D1 University/Nebraska-Lincoln (8th MSC). The Lady Cyclones saw their season come to an end in a 7-1 defeat to Missoula Lee (2nd MSC).

Meanwhile, 4th MSC newcomer-MMS (7th MSC) was on fire. The middle schoolers started things off with a 5-1 win over new MSC rival Lolo. The Knights then easily defeated MSC 1-0 and Central Catholic 3-0. In the event finals, MMS met with second-ranked Finney County (MSC) and picked up their second sweep of the tournament with a 2-1 win. Thus the Knights punched their ticket into tonight’s championship game against a tough and experienced foe; Missoula Gradeschool Prep (5th MSC). Although they were unable to topple Finney County on Friday, they were able to get the job done on Saturday. MMS outscored Finney County 2-0 to claim the Montana state title and a wild, and very heated, 3-1 victory against M

Which file on the server should I upload in order to have my ImageField in Django behave like a read-only file?

I’d like to include a logo in my Django project in the following way:

The user uploads a logo and uploads the image to the filesystem.
The user then edits the logo using the Django admin interface. This leads to the following fields being added to the model:

A FileField (I’ve named it ‘logo’)
A read-only FileField (I’ve named it ‘logo_editor’)

If a logo is uploaded as the logo_editor, then it is edited (in my case, the user gets to change the colors and upload a new image).
However, if the logo_editor is not uploaded, then I want the logo not to be editable.
What should I upload? The logo or the logo_editor? What’s the best way to get around this?
