Tara Penrose (born 29 July 1982) is an Australian singer, songwriter and model. Aged 22, she signed with the record label Sony Music. She signed with Stockland Music and in 2005 released her first album Run. She is noted for her soprano voice, for which she receives the nickname “little diva”.

Early life

Penrose was born in Canberra, but moved to Sydney when she was three years old. She was educated at Sacred Heart College where she made her school musicals. She was a pub pianist for a few years while studying law, and upon graduation from university in 2003, she decided to concentrate on music. In 2002, she played with the band Split Ends for about a year.

Career

2003–2006: Run
In May 2003, she signed with the record label Sony Music and developed her career with the band In Here In My Heart. They released two demos in 2003 and 2004. She was the first Australian artist signed to Sony’s WGTN label. They also released two EPs, the first being I’m Your Other Half in April 2004. They were eventually dropped from Sony.

In 2005, Penrose released her first single “Go Your Own Way” in February. It was then released as a music video in March in which her vocal performance is accompanied by a video showing children performing gymnastic movements. Later in 2005, she released her debut album Run on 9 October. She spent her break inbetween touring and recording doing photo shoots and promo shoots. She opened for Elton John’s Australian tour.

2007: The Other Side of Me
In June 2007, Penrose released her second single “It’s Not My Time” and again it was accompanied by a music video. It was her second top 40 single and spent 5 weeks on the ARIA Top 50 Singles chart, peaking at number 44. She opened for Australian band Delta Goodrem and performed with them on 11 October. In June she was also selected as the face for the Y21 campaign with Project Y.

Here we report a procedure to obtain high-purity (> 95%) covalent dimeric complexes I from Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, the first plant respiratory complex solubilized in high yield and with high (> 90%) purity by a simple procedure based on a triton X-100/n-dodecyl-β-D-maltopyranoside (DDM) solution extraction method. This procedure is fast, less time consuming, yields highly pure complexes, and also allows other purification steps like gradient sucrose density centrifugation. In addition, isolated complexes can be stored at -80°C for long periods and washed twice without loss of functional activity and purity. The detergent-solubilized complexes maintain several functional features of the bioenergetic ultrastructure complex-specific, as they can be fully or partially reconstituted with respect to activities and fluorescence. The observed high stability of solubilized complexes further allowed for the preparation of N-ethylmaleimide (NEM)-treated samples for UV-visible spectroscopy and biophysical techniques such as circular dichroism, fluorescence and resonance light scattering. We found that NEM modifies the flavin absorption spectrum, abolishes the differences in stability between the subsites QI and QII, and changes the tryptophan fluorescence emission maximum for the apoprotein and 1.2 times higher than that of the FMN moiety in the holoprotein.Q:

How does the ‘.’ (period) work in the first argument of main’s parameter list?

I was reading through a Java tutorial the other day, and I came across something I didn’t understand:

The dollar-sign operator (.) can be used in the first argument to the main(String[]) method-invocation-form to obtain the string that is part of the string[] array parameter. As a result, the parameter-list section of a method can appear where a variable-declaration-section might otherwise be expected.

The idea of the tutorial I was reading is to explain the difference between constructor and parameter-list parameters in Java. The example they give is:
