Photoshop’s first killer app

Photoshop was developed by Gerald Quark, a young engineer working for Adobe who was drawn to the program through its intuitive interface. Quark was impressed by the quality of the Mac’s Acorn BBC, which featured graphics programs similar to Photoshop.

Quark joined Adobe as a researcher in 1983 and came up with the idea for Photoshop as a way to create high-quality raster images in the same way one creates vector-based graphics. He also envisioned a program that would aid designers in creating corporate branding, advertisements, and print media that would be cost-effective.

In 1984, Quark created Photoshop from a Xerox Star computer, which he was allowed to use at work. He brought his ideas to Adobe’s president at the time, John Warnock, who was receptive to Quark’s idea for a raster image-editing program and also supportive of Quark’s desire to go into business for himself.

John Warnock joined Quark as his co-founder, and the two men began work on Photoshop. Quark showed the program to his colleague Bruce Gilden at Adobe. Within a week, Gilden was convinced that the program had the potential to be a hit. He also learned that Quark had managed to get some funding from the company’s president, John Warnock.

Quark and his partner, Gilden, began to design the first version of Photoshop, which they put together using all of the computer resources at their disposal. After this initial version proved that Quark and Gilden were onto something, Quark began spending a couple of nights a week putting together Photoshop from his bachelor apartment in Palo Alto, California, and the rest of the week working on his other projects.

“When I start up the program, I can’t believe that no one has made it better,” Quark says. “There are all these things that can be done, but they haven’t been done yet.”

Activating Photoshop Elements

Photoshop Elements is a graphics editor, not an image editor. So you need to open the program and activate it.

To do this, click on the Photoshop Elements icon in the system tray.

Then click on the Activate Photoshop Elements icon to start working with the program.

How to install Photoshop Elements?

Photoshop Elements is available on the Adobe website as a Portable version, and on the Mac App Store as an App version. You can install it from these locations.

To install the App version on macOS:

Download the Photoshop Elements App from the Mac App Store. Open the downloaded file. Double-click on the PhotoshopElements.app icon to launch the app. Click on the install icon to make sure that the installation is successful.

If the installation is successful, click on the activate icon in the system tray to open the Photoshop Elements app.

To install the Portable version:

Go to the Adobe website and download the.dmg file, the.zip file or the.ipa file. (For Mac users, the.dmg file is the best option.) Open the downloaded file. This will make a shortcut on your desktop. If you want to put the shortcut into your Applications folder, go to Finder, select Applications and double-click on the Photoshop Elements.dmg icon. Click on the Install button to open the installation wizard. Run the installer. You will see a message with the install progress. Once completed, close the installation wizard. Click on the PhotoshopElements.app icon in the system tray to open the app. Click on the activate icon in the system tray to start working with the program.

The NYC Commission on Human Rights announced today that it will investigate whether or not the New York Police Department’s stop-and-frisk policy is discriminatory.

The ban on the practice, which targets blacks and Latinos, has been in place since 2004, but has come under the microscope over the last several months following revelations that the NYPD was monitoring Muslim schoolchildren, arresting immigrants and firing guns at random people.

Today’s report — “New York City Police Department: Our Role in Improving Community Relations — In Response to the Violence and the Policing of Immigrants and Muslims” — is the first time in decades that the Commission will take such action, and will affect the NYPD and other law enforcement agencies within the five boroughs.

If the commission finds that the policy was discriminatory, it will have to notify the city’s Human Rights Commission, which in turn will determine whether the policy violated the city’s Human Rights Law. The NYPD may be fined up to $7,500 for each violation.

The stop-and-frisk debate has been one of the most contentious issues in New York politics for the past three years. In a recent loss, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg attempted to rewrite the police department’s policy in 2012, but failed to get the City Council to sign off on his plan.

A final decision on the New York Police Department’s stop-and-frisk policy is expected in a few days.

The NYPD has been able to implement its policy with less scrutiny than other large cities because only about 20 to 30 percent of its total stops were of black and Latino people. But as conditions in the city began to change over the last few months, the new policy was being held up by outcry over its use of racial profiling, with people accusing officers of arresting immigrants for passing through a neighborhood they weren’t originally in, or simply to generate statistics.

The NYPD’s decision on the stop-and-frisk policy will be welcomed by many at the city’s Community Board, but others say the practice has been ineffective, leading to a drop in crime.

Christopher “Chris” Broussard (born August 3, 1978 in Providence, Rhode Island) is a retired American soccer defender who currently works as a color analyst for Fox Sports, and the co-host of ExtraTime Radio’s “Best of the East” podcast. He is currently an assistant coach for the professional team New England Revolution.

Broussard earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Boston University in 2000, and played one season with the Providence College Friars soccer team. He was a 1997 U-17 US national team member, and went on to a two-year professional career with the Baltimore Bays of the USL First Division in 2000 and 2001. In 2001, Broussard signed with the Rhode Island Rams of the USL First Division. He also spent time playing for the DC United reserve squad. Broussard moved to Europe to join Dunfermline Athletic in Scotland as well as RoPS, with whom he won the 2002 Finnish Cup. He was released by Dunfermline at the end of the season, returning to the United States to play for the Raleigh Flyers of the USL Second Division, then rejoined Rhode Island.

He won one national championship with the Rhode Island Rams in 2004, and two national championships with the New England Revolution in 2009 and 2011. He was a member of the 2009 U.S. squad that won the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

In July 2009, Broussard accepted a position as an assistant coach for the New England Revolution, but resigned on October 30, 2015 in order to pursue a career as a broadcaster.
