I don’t have the time to be playing around with sources that turn out to be incompatible with Windows 8.1, but if I were a lazy guy, I’d just load Windows 7 or something and it’d be fine.
UPDATE: I’m also running Windows 8.1 on a laptop, Acer Aspire S3. It’s running great (about 90% of the time, I get a little quirky here or there and have to fiddle with it.) The only thing it doesn’t have is an optical drive, and I rarely use it. It’s using a standard USB 3.0 keyboard and mouse, and as far as I know, it works just fine with USB 3.0.

As mentioned above, you can use a USB mouse for your VivoTab Note 8. The mouse has to be a wireless one.
If you wish to use a wireless keyboard, you need to get a Bluetooth dongle. The micro USB to USB 3.0 adaptor (the kind you get on ebay) can be used for this.

Invisible blank line for the page title
In the course of solving a problem in the tikz-cd package, I have found that if you include a blank line in the \title line (in the title environment), that the page title becomes invisible. And I can’t get rid of it. Can anybody tell me how to get rid of this blank line?

I have an old Asus Vivotab Note 8, and think that it needs replaced. The screen has gone cloudy and fuzzy. When I run a factory restore, I get the option for what kind of restore to carry out. However there is no option to restore to a factory e.g. on the screen or to a previously saved e.g. contact list. The factory restore merely downloads a new operating system and leaves the computer. Is there a way to restore the tablet without replacing the whole tablet?

If the screen is blank, then you may not be able to use a factory restore. In that case you will need to restore to factory like this:
Start the tablet on an Asus recovery device
Press and hold the volume down key until the device boots into recovery mode.
Then you can use the option to select a factory reset
You should then have a chance of selecting what kind of factory reset you would like to carry out.
